Why we die cut everything

The difference between a sticker that looks homemade and one that looks made is usually the cut line.

A rectangle is cheaper to produce. It also puts a hard border around artwork that was never drawn with a border, which is why so many first-run stickers look slightly off without anyone being able to say why.

What die cutting does

It follows the drawing. Toasty’s peeled corner stays a peeled corner instead of getting swallowed by a white box, and the silhouette reads from across a room - which is the whole job of a sticker on a laptop lid.

The tradeoff

It costs more and it takes an extra proofing step, because the cut path has to be drawn and checked separately from the art. Worth it every time, especially on anything with a strong outline.
