Why kiss cut earns its rectangle

The difference between a sticker that looks homemade and one that looks properly made is usually the cut line.

Every peel in the lineup is kiss cut. The blade goes through the vinyl and stops at the backing, so the sticker itself follows the shape of the art while a neat rectangle of backing stays behind it until you peel.

What a kiss cut gets you

A clean edge around the art. Once it is on the laptop lid, Toasty’s peeled corner stays a peeled corner instead of getting swallowed by a white box, and the silhouette reads from across a room - which is the whole job of a sticker.

An easy peel. The cut line gives your fingernail somewhere to start, so there is no picking at a corner until it tears.

Why the rectangle stays

That border of backing is doing a job. It protects the edges in the envelope and in your bag, so nothing curls, nicks or catches before it lands where it is going.

Where it matters most

Anything with a strong outline. A mascot, a lettering piece, a shape you would recognise in a shop window. Peel it off the backing and all anyone sees is the art.
